Join me for a variety of embroidery and sewing workshops. Start sewing or add a new element to your textile art. All workshops are single day duration, 10-4 or similar hours per your requirements and venue. See the Contacts page for fees and terms.
Workshop content can be flexible to meet your needs. Please feel free to contact me with your ideas and requirements for either group workshop sessions or Arts Award specifications.
Bead Embroidery and Embellishments (all levels)
Use combinations of beads sequins and stitches to create texture in your work. Using just a few basic stitches, sew beads and sequins onto cloth so that they stay on! There will be tips on how to summon up inspiration and create a design from various sources. The main project is a small beaded vignette, suitable for r a little bag, cushion insert or a brooch.
Project alternative concentrates on beaded buttons.
Creative Embroidery (all levels)
Beginner’s projects concentrate on practicing well-loved stitches. Intermediates expand their creative approach to embroidery with more free-form design based content. For all session levels, the project is a series of pincushion “samplers” that are decorative, useful and guaranteed not to be hidden away.
Start Sewing Series (beginners and reluctant sewists everywhere)
Simple, wearable projects that can presented as a single project or as a capsule wardrobe sew along series available to meet your requirements Designed to build up your sewing skills so that you can approach a commercial pattern with confidence. Just don’t make due and mend- make and create your own style with my own patterns.
Crazy Patchwork (all levels)
Like patchwork? Embroidery? Beading? Can’t decide? Crazy patchwork allows you to explore it all. Basic project is a panel suitable for a cushion, bag or similar. Other projects can be tailored to your requirements.
All by Hand- Traditional Stitching Techniques Revisited (all levels)
Popular patchwork patterns are demonstrated using the piecing over papers technique- the way it used to be done-both with scrap paper (really green!) and freezer paper (since it is still really easy!). No machine required and the ultimately portable patchwork technique. Trapunto- a padded and raised technique will also be demonstrated. Plus a little decorative hand mending included for good measure! All samples will be made into pincushions for keepsake references.
